London Northwestern Railway: Passengers urged to check journeys and plan ahead of industrial action

Passengers travelling with London Northwestern Railway (LNR) are being urged to check their journeys and plan ahead of industrial action.

Members of train driver union ASLEF have announced their intention to stage strike action on Wednesday 8 May. No services will operate on any LNR route as a result.

In addition, ASLEF members have also announced their intention to stage industrial action in the form of an overtime ban between Monday 6 May and Saturday 11 May inclusive. Services will be subject to short-notice cancellation as a result.

Jonny Wiseman, LNR customer experience director, said:

“It is disappointing that industrial action is continuing to affect passengers’ journeys. Services will be subject to disruption after the May Bank Holiday weekend and I urge passengers to check their journeys. There will be no service on any LNR route on Wednesday 8 May.

“Anyone holding a ticket for travel on a strike day can use their ticket on a different day or claim a full refund.”

The following alterations will apply between Monday 6 May and Saturday 11 May inclusive (excluding Wednesday 8 May):

  • Buses will replace trains on the Marston Vale Line between Bletchley and Bedford
  • Buses will replace trains on the Abbey Line between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey
  • Early morning services on Thursday 9 May are subject to amendment
  • No services will operate on any LNR route on Wednesday 8 May
